your mind back to the early 1990s and Sydney
fans may remember Col Higgins, who drove
the # 30 ex Max Dumesny JSR, that sported
the camouflage colour scheme and on Boxing
Night (December 26) at Parramatta City Raceway
(PCR) it was second season Sprintcar racer
Antony Jeffrey that brought the camouflage
colour scheme back out.
The
driver of # 47 Raw Fuel Racing J&J received
plenty of positive feedback from spectators,
officials and teams, with one person questioning
if it would be possible for all to grab
a glimpse of the car once it was out on
the track.
Since
making his debut in Sprintcars at the beginning
of last season, Jeffery has always held
presentation in high regard, and decided
on the camouflage colour scheme as something
that was out of the ordinary and would hopefully
give him that necessary edge over his competitors.
“It
has been a while since we have seen a camouflage
colour scheme in Sydney, so I thought, why
not? It is certainly something different,”
he remarked.
“So
far we have received plenty of positive
feedback and it has certainly been a big
hit with the younger audience, which is
something that is important,”
With
the international season at PCR starting
to hot up, Jeffrey is very much looking
forward to a set of upcoming meetings where
he hopes to continue on his steady learning
curve.
“I
have set myself some realistic goals for
the international meetings and that is to
make the show (top 48 in qualifying) and
avoid the non-qualifiers events,” he enthused.
“Anything
after that will just be a bonus, but I’m
looking to be somewhere amongst the field
in the C-main.”
The
next outing for Jeffrey and his # 47 Raw
Racing Fuel J&J will take place this
Saturday night (December 30) at PCR. Jeffrey
strongly encourages parents to bring their
children down to the track after the race
meeting is completed to sit in his car and
grab an autograph.
